What others have to say about Channel Health Alliance
Public, Patient & Partner Engagement Group
In April 2022 our Engagement Lead, created a CHA Engagement group which involves members of the public and representatives from local partner organisations to help raise the awareness of CHA and help us to be sure that we really are providing excellent services for local people that they can truly benefit from.
The main objectives of the group are:
- To make sure the views of patients, minority groups, carers and the public are considered during the
planning and delivery of CHA’s commissioned or Hosted services. - To ensure CHA achieve their aims of improving the range and effectiveness of their services whenever
possible. - To identify areas for service improvement and agree and expedite any actions needed.
- To provide a mechanism for feeding back to patients and the public on how the involvement of the group,
has improved the quality of services provided. - To provide an opportunity for the group to receive presentations from members of Channel Health
Alliance staff to extend learning about the services we provide.
The group meets as a whole group quarterly, but
small groups and individuals work together much
more often on small projects and some attend
networking events to give CHA a voice in those
arenas.
Currently the groups’ membership consist of:
- PCN representatives
- GP Practices staff and Patients
- Kent Community NHS Trust reps
- East Kent Hospital NHS Trust reps
- Representative from local urgent treatment
centre - Representative from Volunteer Services
- Health/sports and fitness specialist
All members of the groups are bound by the usual
Confidentiality Code of Conduct
New members always welcome
If you know of any friends or family members who might like to join this group, please enquire via your GP practice.
Our lay member for engagement, Isabel will contact them, explain the remit of the group, and give them a warm welcome should they wish to join!
Involving local people
Caring for people with Dementia
Our Public and Partner Engagement group continues to support Channel Health Alliance and two of our local Primary Care Networks, in any way that they can.
One of our group members asked a small group of ladies who are dedicated to helping local people, to produce some “twiddle blankets” for the Care Homes team to present to their patients with dementia.
These lap blankets enable their owners to touch and feel the beautiful array of articles attached to them to help their minds to concentrate and even maybe to bring back memories. The Ladies in this group love making these blankets for us – knowing how much pleasure they give. We now have enough now to share with the Home Visiting team for them to give to any of their patients with dementia who they might care for in their own homes.
